A Little About Me

"One of the greatest predictors  of a successful outcome in therapy is the fit between therapist and client".

Having worked within the media and communications business for 15 years, I retrained over a substantial time in psychotherapy to become a qualified, experienced registered Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist.  I originally trained and worked as a Relate counsellor for over 10 years before starting my own private practice working with adult individuals and couples.

My Approach

I believe that the best therapy needs to be flexible, adaptive and collaborative as no one approach is right for all clients.

Within my practice, I draw on a number of therapeutic models such as Psychodynamic therapy; which involves working with the conscious and unconscious desires and beliefs and how these past and present beliefs can shape your personality and influence your current behaviour.  Systemic Therapy; which is an approach working with people not just on an individual level but dealing with the person within a relationship or group and the interactional patterns and dynamics that are created.   CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) working on identifying and challenging any negative thinking patterns and behaviour which may be causing you difficulties and to develop new helpful thoughts that can change the way you feel about situations in the future.

Wherever you are on your journey, therapy can be a movement towards personal growth and give you the opportunity to challenge the difficult issues and unhelpful patterns of behaviour.  Therapy can enable you to identify and give you an awareness of new perspectives and different choices that can lead you to a healthier emotional life.
